---- WHY WE HAVE BECOME THE CLUB WE ARE ----

We are a successful and progressive club which believe bowls to be a DO-ABLE sport, physically, financially, and practically.  This applies to everyone of all ages, background, ethnicity and gender including those with disabilities and health conditions.  This belief has helped to make our club what it is today and we will continue to develop by building on those beliefs, both on and off the green.

G B Britton Bowls Club was founded in 1919 by George Bryant Britton, hence our name, but in more recent times it has attracted the nickname The Bees.  This is not just, as many think, because of the number of Bs in the name but also because of the four principals which underpin our aims and ambitions.

 These are to;

  • Build on the playing success of previous seasons by attracting quality players to the club as well as developing our own members abilities and ambitions.
  • Ensure the club is truly accessible to all by creating a positive and safe environment for everyone.  This applies to casual and competitive players as well as visitors and applies to physical safety as well as safety and security of personal information.  Our Safeguarding and Data Protection (GDPR) Polices are shown in this section of the website.
  • Encourage new members to join the club and help their development through in-house coaching and a gradual introduction into the playing arena.  Our new members section on this website sets this out in more detail.
  • Stimulate the growth of a family experience for all members and to continue to develop the social side of the club by increasing our events programme which is also shown in this section of the website.
