Friendly Games
We hope that once you gain a little confidence you will want to play more competitively and you will put your name down for a friendly match. The Club organizes friendly games throughout the season against local clubs who are also out for an enjoyable game These are usually played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and at weekends. The games can be all male, all female, or mixed matches.
Competitive Games
Each week the club puts out four league teams three men's teams and one ladies' team. There are also various County and National competitions that take place throughout the season so you can become involved as much or little as you like.
In-House Club Competitions
The club holds singles, pairs, triples, and mixed competitions for those who want to take part. Bowlers of all levels are encouraged to participate as playing against better players is a good way of improving your own game.
The Social Side
The club also has a strong social side and the bar is open most evenings in the summer.
During the winter months, the club is open some Friday evenings for various activities such as quizzes, racehorse fun evenings, and fish and chip suppers.
New Bowlers
For those of you who have never bowled before help is always on hand to teach you the game. Once you have learned the basics and you are confident in your ability, you can take your first steps into bowls club life. We play a good number of mixed matches as well Ladies and Men's. We are an inclusive club and the facilities we have include disabled toilets for private use, ramps to entrances, and a defibrillator is on-site as well.
As a Member you can practice or play social bowls on any afternoon and evening during the summer All you have to do is get a jack, and a mat from our stores, then find a spare rink. The club also has a selection of bowls that can be used for absolute beginners, also, for those just looking to change clubs, you are welcome to come along to try the club out, contact us and we can arrange either a member to coach you or show you around.
Membership can be obtained by submitting an application form, available from the club, to the Club Secretary. GB Britton BC does not have a nomination policy, if you apply it will go before the committee, for your application to be accepted. There is an annual membership fee to be a member or affiliate social member. The fee is subject to change at this moment due to running costs being increased by the current financial situation we all face.
