JOIN US FOR AN OPEN DAY

SATURDAY 13th JUNE

Club Open Day – Saturday 13th June, 2:00pm–6:00pm

Come and join us for a fantastic afternoon at our Club Open Day on Saturday 13th June from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

Whether you're one of our seasoned players or completely new to the game, this is the perfect opportunity to bring along family, friends and neighbours to discover what makes our club so special. Enjoy a fun, relaxed atmosphere, have a go at our wonderful game, and meet the friendly faces that make our club such a great place to be.

As part of the day, we will also be holding a special dedication of our middle shelter in memory of Edward “Ted” Lyle, a Life Member and much-loved clubman whose contribution to the club will long be remembered.

There will be plenty to enjoy, with food available throughout the afternoon and the bar open to keep the refreshments flowing.

Make a date in your diary, spread the word, and join us for an afternoon of fun and  friendship. We look forward to seeing you there!

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE UPDATE

CASHLESS PAYMENTS

Proposal: Moving the Club Bar to Card-Only Payments

The Management Committee is considering a proposal to make the club bar cashless, with all bar purchases paid for by debit or credit card. This proposal applies only to bar sales at this stage. Food purchases from the kitchen after league matches and rink fees would continue to be paid as they are now and any changes to this will be considered separately later.

Why are we considering this change?

A move to card-only payments could provide a number of benefits for the club:

  • Improved security – Reducing the amount of cash held on the premises lowers the risk of theft or loss and reduces the need for volunteers to handle cash.
  • Simpler administration – Card payments are automatically recorded, making it easier to balance takings, prepare accounts and reduce the time spent counting and banking cash.
  • Greater accuracy – Electronic transactions help minimise errors
  • Reduced banking requirements – With less cash to process, the club would spend less time, reduce cost and effort making bank deposits and managing cash floats.
  • Faster service – Many members already use contactless payments, which can speed up transactions, particularly during busy periods.
  • Better financial records – Electronic payment systems provide clear transaction histories, helping the club maintain accurate records and supporting good financial governance.

We want your views

The Committee recognises that this would be a significant change and that members may have different opinions. Before any decision is made, we would like to hear your views on the proposal by way of a survey which we will be conducting.

Please take the opportunity to provide your feedback so that the Committee can consider the views of the membership before deciding whether to proceed.
